about

Jackey’s living as an artist began with the creation of custom hand painted silk clothing in 1985 and in 1990 transitioned into a thirty-year career as a master faux finisher for high-end clients in Northern California and Western Oregon. Her art today covers a broad spectrum of mediums and materials from fabric to reclaiming bygone relics to gourd art to canvas, and any other idea that sparks an interest.

Jackey’s claim to fame is her distinct honor of playing “Debbie,” the child star of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, often referred to as “The Worst Movie Ever Made.” Her father, artist Tom Neyman, played the evil polygamist Master and was also largely responsible for much of the “look” of MANOS. Even her mom and dog were fully invested in the making of this iconic film.

MANOS only screened once during its premiere in El Paso, Texas in 1966, where it was ridiculed due to its poor quality and soon forgotten. It wasn’t until MANOS appeared on a 1993 episode of cult comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 that Jackey became aware that a copy of the film even existed. The film had been unearthed by comedian Frank Conniff—then a writer on MST3K—who was responsible for choosing the movies featured on the show. MANOS has since been cited by many as one of the greatest episodes ever of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

One of the few surviving cast members of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, Jones has been embraced by the MSTie community through numerous appearances at conventions and other fan events, often speaking candidly (and hilariously) about the making of MANOS. In 2016, Jones authored Growing Up with Manos: The Hands of Fate: How I was the Child Star of the Worst Movie Ever Made and Lived to Tell the Story, which detailed her experiences working on MANOS as a child. Her active online presence and popular Etsy shop, which offers custom-made robes identical to the one worn by “The Master” in MANOS, has solidified Jackey as the perfect instructor for a Mystery Science Theater 3000-themed online class.
