Dumb Industries is a New York City-based production company founded by comedian, writer and producer Chris Gersbeck.

Gersbeck, initially a stand up, later produced & promoted comedy & podcasts for Dave Hill, Kevin Allison, Frank Conniff & Trace Beaulieu, MTV’s The State, RISK!, Keith and The Girl and many other comedians.

In response to Covid, Dumb Industries began livestreaming its events, starting with The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour, and then The Mads Are Back, a monthly live-riffing show from MST3K alums Trace Beaulieu & Frank Conniff. The Mads Are Back has since become a massively successful monthly event watched by viewers around the world.

In 2021, Dumb Industries launched The Mary Jo Pehl Show on Twitch, starring MST3K’s Mary Jo Pehl. The show, co-created/written/produced & hosted by Pehl & Gersbeck, has amassed a large following and has since expanded with several spin-offs.

In 2022, Dumb Industries entered the field of education with a B-movie-themed art class instructed by Jackey Neyman Jones (“Debbie” from Manos: The Hands of Fate), Jackey Neyman Jones: The Hands of Paint. Neyman & Gersbeck have also collaborated on a popular line of Manos: The Hands of Fate-themed clothing available exclusively at Dumb Industries.

In 2023, Dumb Industries launched Dumb 24/7, a non-stop stream of Dumb content on Twitch featuring over 400 hours of original content on constant rotation. Several new productions are in the works for 2024.

You can keep up to date on all things Dumb by joining our newsletter and watching The Dumb Industries Mystery Hour every Thursday at 8pm ET on Twitch.

FAQs

  • Firstly: check the date. It sounds silly, but we regularly get panicked emails a full week before a livestream is set to occur!

Secondly: You never need to rely on emails to access anything from Dumb Industries! In fact, we highly discourage waiting on emails to access livestreams or downloads.

If you purchased a ticket for The Mads Are Back and didn’t receive an email with the livestream or download links, click here login to Eventbrite and then click on “Tickets.”

Next, click on “Past Purchases” and you should be able to access the Online Event Page for any event you’ve purchased a ticket to. Livestream & download links are always posted to the Online Event Page at the same time emails are sent out.

If you are having issues accessing your Eventbrite profile, email chris@dumb-industries.com

  • As of May 2023, downloads of The Mads Are Back include only the movie portion of the event.

However, all bonus features, including the event’s pre-show, intro, and Q&A, remain available to stream at any time in your Vimeo library.

This change was implemented for two main reasons:

First, we were regularly exceeding our monthly bandwidth with Vimeo by offering a two hour video for download for free. By cutting that free download to one hour, we didn’t have to upgrade our Vimeo account, which would have forced us to either raise ticket prices or stop offering a free download altogether.

Second, based on our research, an overwhelming majority of viewers prefer having only the movie as part of their download. In fact, we even found a lot of folks were cutting the livestream segments out themselves so they could have just the movie portion to play.

  • If you purchased a VOD from us, your purchase lives in your Vimeo Library where you can access it at any time.

Click here to login to Vimeo and see your past purchases.

  • Email store@dumb-industries.com for any issues regarding orders.

Please note: Book orders are shipped out separately from merchandise orders. This is because books are personally shipped out by Dumb Industries, whereas most of our merchandise is fulfilled by our supplier Printful.

Sometimes merchandise orders with multiple products will also ship out separately. If you received one item but not the other, it will likely arrive shortly thereafter. If it’s been more than two weeks and you still haven’t received an item, please email us right away.

Any questions regarding your order status? Email store@dumb-industries.com

  • We’ve set up this page for you to submit any movie suggestions. Also feel free to submit TV shows, commercials, or any videos you think might be fun for us to watch.

You can also submit movie and trailer suggestions in our Discord server!

  • The first show Chris ever produced was called, “Everything Is Dumb” (spelled ‘Everythign Is Dumbn” for reasons unknown), and was then followed up by a live-riffing show called, “Movies R Dumb.”

“Dumb” seemed to be a recurring theme amongst Chris’s productions so he decided to name his production company, “Dumb Productions.”

Once Chris began promoting projects that he was not also producing, he decided to change the company’s name to “Dumb Industries” to reflect its wider offerings.

In October 2021, Dumb Industries officially became “Dumb Industries LLC.”
