Clubhouse Beta, the MJ Soundboard, and more to get psyched About in June!
Hey gang. Chris here. The guy who thought naming his company “Dumb Industries” was a good idea.
Anyway, somehow it’s June already and like many of you, I’m in utter disbelief considering it was just May, like, yesterday. But I finally have more time to focus on Dumb since I’m no longer distracted by the final seasons of Hacks or Euphoria. By the way, I thought one of those was trash and the other was fantastic. I’ll let you decide which is which…
…fine, Hacks was the good one. Obviously.
Moving on, we do have a very full month ahead of us but before we get into that I wanted to highlight some website & membership upgrades that are now available to everyone. Last month, we rolled out automatic discounts for select memberships, but now all our members receive automatic discounts at both The Dumb Store and Dumb Video!
For members at our base plan, that’s a 15% discount at The Dumb Store (merch, books, artwork & more) and a 25% discount at Dumb Video (downloads & audiobooks). For our “Plus” and Art members, it’s a 25% discount at The Dumb Store and a 30% discount at Dumb Video. No promo codes needed. Just shop and enjoy! Woohoo!
Next — feeling experimental? For like, testing tech stuff out. Not… wow. You guys. This is a family website.
Anyway, you can now test new Clubhouse features before they get rolled out to everyone by watching our programming in The Dumb Clubhouse (Beta)! Right now, we’re testing ultra-low latency streaming (so there’s absolutely no delay in our streams on the website) and a dual Twitch/Clubhouse chat system so you never miss a message from anywhere. Once we get those features working correctly, we’ll be rolling those out to all memberships. Your feedback is enormously helpful in making the Clubhouse as awesome as possible, so don’t be shy in our Discord or by emailing me.
If you watched May’s episodes of Movie Jo Night or The Mary Jo Pehl Show, you’re already familiar with the Mary Jo soundboard, but if you’re not caught up, it’s basically the greatest thing ever that our Associate Producer Matt Reiser conceived of during Mary Jo’s recent Movie Jo Night absence. We’re actually testing out integrating this into The Dumb Clubhouse as well, but you can also play around with it below. If you have any sound clips you think would be good to add, please send them to chris@dumb-industries.com!
The Mary Jo Soundboard
We have so many events coming up in June, and you should really check out our calendar and add events to your own calendar so you never miss a show, but here are a couple important things I wanted to highlight:
You may have noticed second Tuesdays have been dormant at Dumb Industries for over a year. But beginning Tuesday, June 9 @ 8pm ET, Dumb Industries is excited to present a special prime-time bonus edition of Art Draws Us Together with Jackey Neyman Jones every other second Tuesday of the month on Twitch, in The Dumb Clubhouse, and of course to all Art members at 8pm ET. For this upcoming session, Jackey will be guiding viewers in creating their own painting inspired by the legendary B-movie THE PHANTOM PLANET, preceded by a screening of The Mads Are Back: The Phantom Planet!
This is an amazing opportunity to join in on all the fun we’ve been having these past few years without needing to sign up for anything. Invite friends and family over, and don’t forget to send your work in so we can add it to the community gallery!
Now, you may be asking yourself, “what’s gonna be happening on the other second Tuesdays of the month??” And that is a good question, for another time. We will be answering that very soon though, so stay tuned and be sure you’re on our newsletter so you don’t miss any announcements.
Closing out the month on June 30 will be The Mary Jo Pehl Show Presents: The Search For Linda (Phase 2), in which viewers will get to see extended interviews with candidates that Mary Jo & I are conducting for the coveted Linda position. Do you have a favorite from last week’s episode? Let us know in our Discord!
That’s all for now. Thanks for being here for the ride. Let’s Get Dumb!
-Chris (still, still not dead)
